Dangling like a string of pearls below the Indian subcontinent, the Maldives has always been the picture perfect fantasy of tropical island holidays. With only lush islands in the horizon for hundreds of miles, the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean is a paradise for water lovers. What sets the Maldives apart from other destinations is the teeming abundance of marine life. Due to the strict sustainable fishing policies, the ecosystems are intact and the reefs are healthy and BEAUTIFUL!
The location of Laamu is within easy reach of some of the most legendary dive sites where all kinds of amazing sea creatures gives the impression of swimming around in a perfect aquarium. It is rather amazing really.
Laamu boasts a stunning array of dive sites, from easy beginner sites to ripping current dives, deep manta cleaning stations and channels where large schools of fish, rays and a great number of sharks congregate. Most importantly, being off the beaten track, there are very few dive operators, and we mostly have the dive sites completely to ourselves!
Location
Laamu is an incredibly beautiful atoll south of the capital Male. A 35 minute flight over 5 atolls starts your trip with breathtaking views. This southern part of the Maldives is way less travelled and the island of Gan still enjoys a largely undiscovered status. Staying on a local inhabited island provides a very different, very REAL Maldivian experience, where the locals are eager to welcome explorers. Gan has natural forests, several villages to discover and miles upon miles of deserted milky white beaches.
